Micol Roubini nasce a Milano nel 1982. Ha studiato presso la Universität der Künste Berlin e l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano dove si è laureata nel 2007 in pittura. Nel 2008 si è diplomata in Tecnologie dell’audio presso l’IrMus, dipartimento di musica della Scuola Civica di Milano. Artista e regista, utilizza principalmente il video, il suono, la scrittura nell’elaborazione di progetti site-specific che ha esposto in diverse mostre personali e collettive, in Italia e all’estero. La sua ricerca, basata sull’analisi delle stratificazioni culturali, sociali, politiche ed economiche di una data realtà, è incentrata sul rapporto tra memoria e oralità, sui territori marginali e la loro antropizzazione, sulle migrazioni interne, sugli elementi di transizione e conflitto determinati dal trascorrere del tempo. Dal 2010 ha collaborato con l’artista Lorenzo Casali, nel duo Casali+Roubini. Nel 2019 termina il suo primo lungometraggio, La strada per le montagne, film ibrido tra documentario e finzione, che viene presentato in competizione internazionale al 41°Cinema du Réel a Parigi e in diversi altri festival europei. Nel 2020 il film vince il Premio Corso Salani al 31°Trieste Film festival.
Micol Roubini (1982) lives and works in Milan. She has studied at the Universität der Künste Berlin and at the Brera Fine Arts Academy in Milan, where she graduated, in Painting, in 2007. The following year she received a diploma in audio technology at the Institute for Musical Research (Irmus), department of the Scuola Civica, Milan. Within the frame of the cultural, social, political and economic layers of a given system, her work deals with marginal territories, internal migrations, the anthropization of remote areas, it questions the relationship between memory and orality, the elements of transition and conflict due to time-flow. As an artist she works mainly with video, sound, writing and multimedia installations which have been shown in solo and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Since 2010 she has collaborated on several projects with the artist Lorenzo Casali under the name Casali+Roubini. In 2019, her first feature film The Way to the Mountains was presented at the Centre Pompidou in the International competition of the 41° Cinéma du Réel, and later projected in other European festivals. In 2020 the film won the Corso Salani prize during the 31°Trieste Film festival.
